Link AMS accounts

Last updated on March 9, 2024

Overview

To take advantage of the features offered by AccelByte Multiplayer Servers (AMS)such as the ability to share resources between AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) game namespacesyou will need an AMS account linked to your game namespaces. This How-to will walk you through linking an AMS account to a game namespace.

For more information about AMS, see AccelByte Multiplayer Servers under the Services section.

Prerequisites

Verify linked game namespaces

info

When an AMS account is created from a game namespace, the account is automatically linked to that namespace.

You can check if a game namespace has an AMS account linked to it by using the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers section in the Admin Portal.

  1. Log in to your AGS Admin Portal (e.g., demo.accelbyte.io/admin).
  2. In the Admin Portal, go into the namespace for the game you want to check if an AMS account is linked to.
  3. On the sidebar in that namespace, expand AccelByte Multiplayer Servers.
  4. Verify if an AMS account is linked to this namespace.
    • If an account is linked to this namespace, AccelByte Multiplayer Servers will have the following options:
      • Server Images
      • Fleets
      • Local Server
      • Download Resource
    • If an account is NOT linked to this namespace, AccelByte Multiplayer Servers will only have the following option:
      • Setup AMS Account

Follow the next section to link AMS accounts to game namespaces.

note

The steps in this section require a linking token generated from a game namespace that already has an AMS account linked. When an AMS account is created from a game namespace, the account is automatically linked to that namespace, so you can use that namespace for this section.

To link an AMS account to a game namespace, you need to generate a linking token from that AMS account and enter that into the desired game namespace.

Generate linking token from linked game namespace

  1. Log in to your AGS Admin Portal (e.g., demo.accelbyte.io/admin).
  2. In the Admin Portal, go into a game namespace that already has an AMS account linked. You can use the previous section to check if it does.
  3. On the sidebar, click into any page in the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers section (e.g., Server Images).
  4. In the upper-right corner of an AccelByte Multiplayer Servers page (e.g., Server Images), you will see AMS Account: <account name and info>. Click that account name.
  5. On the AMS Account page, click the + Generate New Linking button.
  6. On the New Linking Token pop-up that appears, copy the linking token.
    note

This token will expire after the date and time shown on this pop-up.

You will enter this linking token on an unlinked game namespace to link the AMS account to that namespace.

Enter linking token into unlinked game namespace

  1. While still in the AGS Admin Portal, go to an unlinked game namespace that you want to link an AMS account to.
  2. On the sidebar, go to AccelByte Multiplayer Servers > Setup AMS Account.
  3. On the Setup AMS Account page, click Already had an AMS Account? to expand it.
  4. Enter (paste) your linking token into the Linking Token field and click the Link button.
  5. On the Link AMS Account confirmation pop-up, enter the name of your game namespace in the field and click the Link button.

Your game namespace has been linked with your AMS account. Use the previous section to make sure.
